Research Technician in Viral RNA Biology2020 December 7,The Steckelberg Lab at Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician to help manage daily operations in the laboratory, and to participate in ongoing research projects on the interface of RNA biology and virology. The lab investigates mechanisms of gene regulation during virus infection, using a combination of biochemical, structural, biophysical and cell biological approaches. Ongoing research in the lab focusses on host-virus interactions of coronaviruses (incl. SARS-CoV2) and flaviviruses. The technician will help Dr. Steckelberg to set up a new lab (established in January 2021), and will be in charge of ordering, receiving deliveries, keeping critical inventories well-stocked and organized, and maintaining the lab’s buffer and media needs. The technician will also be expected to participate and engage intellectually in the lab’s research goals, and to this end, will work closely with other colleagues in a highly motivated, collaborative environment. A commitment of two or more years is desired, and the technician should anticipate one or more co-authored research publications to result from their time in the lab.
