Orna Therapeutics, Inc. is a Cambridge-based biotechnology startup on a mission to create therapies for diseases inaccessible to existing approaches. Built on novel circular RNA technology developed at MIT, Orna is leading the next wave of RNA therapeutics with our best-in-class expression and delivery platform. We are seeking an exceptional Scientist to join our Delivery Sciences team and help develop our best-in-class proprietary RNA expression and delivery platform. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual that can independently execute experiments with efficiency and creativity. They will support the design and execution of experiments; possess strong oral and written communication capabilities; demonstrate excellent collaboration & interpersonal skills; and be adept at problem solving in a fast-paced environment.


  • Design, innovate, troubleshoot, formulate, and characterize novel RNA lipid nanoparticles; generate and support IP filings
  • Independently lead screening of RNA lipid nanoparticles to understand and improve biodistribution and expression in target tissues and cell types
  • Supervise direct report(s) to support formulation for key in vitro/in vivo projects across the company; actively collaborate with diverse scientific disciplines including Orna’s Immunology and Molecular Biology teams
  • Devise and execute in vivo and in vitro studies to facilitate preclinical development of RNA lipid nanoparticles
  • Manage third-party CROs and tech transfer protocols
  • Plan experiments, analyze data, and present findings; maintain lab notebook, inventory, and protocols
  • Contribute to a positive and exciting work environment in a young, fast-growing company


  • PhD with 0-2 years industry experience or MS with 5+ years industry experience in biochemistry, chemical/biomedical engineering, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or relevant field
  • Direct experience with siRNA, DNA, or mRNA lipid nanoparticle formulation and characterization
  • Experience with in vivo bioluminescence imaging and/or flow cytometry
  • Preferred: experience with RNA and LNP analytical characterization methods (e.g. Reverse Phase HPLC/UPLC, SEC, gel electrophoresis, DLS, Cryo-EM, electrophoresis, UV-Vis spectroscopy)
